As received from the Jacobson Funeral Home:
Roxanne LeClaire Spear, 62, went to be with our Holy Father on January 19, 2022.
Roxanne was a doting mother and Grammy Blaggy, daughter, sister, auntie, coozin and friend. She was born September 29, 1959 in L’Anse, Michigan, was baptized in the Mission Catholic and graduated in 1977 from John Glenn High School in Westland, Michigan. She attended School Craft Community College before starting her family. Her children, grandchildren, family and friends were everything to her and she took great pride in caring for all who crossed her path. Roxanne made you feel cared for whether she was feeding a house full, getting everyone out skiing or influencing women’s lives through Mary Kay. She proudly drove her pink car to lead women’s and children’s bible study, to play on her boat, or to shuttle anyone anywhere they needed to be. She truly enjoyed gardening and shared that passion with those who wanted to learn or help. She was dubbed “Miss Drivey” due to her annual family trips to the Upper Peninsula. Roxanne’s dad taught her to fish and she shared this hobby with her children, especially all her boys; her favorite spots were Lake Superior and Isle Royale. Words cannot explain how much her boisterous laugh and beautiful spirit will be missed.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 31st at 2:00 p.m. at Most Holy Name of Jesus Church in Assinins with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Assinins Cemetery.
Roxanne is survived by her children and grandchildren: Angela (Henry Niekerk, Justine 27, Chase 24, Hank 9, Juliet 5), Rebecca (Ben Coleman, Reeves 3, Mo 1), Nathan (Nathan 13, Lyla 12), Brandon (Courtney, Wyatt 11, Westyn 8, Warren 5, Wilder 2), and Jared Spear. She is also survived by her mother Julie Brown (St. Arnold), step mother Mary LeClaire, and siblings: Sandy (Butch Suer, Mandi and Nikki), Debbie Horvath (Dustin and Tina), Randy Dexter (Bonnie Dexter, Kyle and Robert) Kim (Bob Faust, Chad, Adam, Zach), Craig LeClaire, and Melissa (Dave Ford, Dez and Mitch).
Roxanne is reunited and already fishing in heaven with her father Marvin “Diz” LeClaire.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking to help honor Roxanne’s last wishes of a burial service with donations to Jacobson Funeral Home, 200 L’Anse Ave, L’Anse, MI 49946 or to the Niekerk or Coleman family.
