As received from Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Service:
After a long battle with cancer, Rosemarie (Rose) Louise Gemignani, 59, of Hancock, MI passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at her home surrounded by family.
Rose was born November 26, 1962, in Hancock, MI to Rose Marie and Tony Pleshe. She graduated in 1981 from Jeffers High School, where she played basketball for four years and was voted most athletic during her senior year. She made numerous memories with her fun and crazy classmates, many of whom she continued to bond with throughout her life; they went on adventures including parades, snowshoeing, and annual camping trips in Misery Bay.
Rose graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1983 as an LPN. Prior to attending college, she met the love of her life, Anthony (Tony) Gemignani, while working at the Cozy Corner. Rose and Tony were happily married on September 3, 1983, in South Range, MI. Together over the next 20 years, they owned and operated Gemignani’s Italian Restaurant and later started Rudy’s Seasonings. She was known for her delicious homemade ravioli and fruit pies.
Rose also worked as an LPN until she retired from the VA in 2020. She received the Nurse Excellence award in May of 2018. Her patients were especially appreciative of the care she provided, often sending her thank you letters.
Rose enjoyed many hobbies including crocheting, fishing, gardening, beekeeping, playing games, and gathering with her family. Over the years, she loved attending concerts, going to their camp in bootjack, and taking beach vacations. Her family will fondly remember countless great memories enjoying laughs and food together, especially birthday parties with coffee and cake.
Rose was good-natured, modest, and often went out of her way to help people. She was a devoted Catholic and regularly attended mass at the Church of the Resurrection. Anyone that knew Rose was always happy to see her and could tell you that she had an inspiring strength and kindness that will be greatly cherished; she was a truly loving and generous person.
