Ronald W. Lawrence, 87, a former resident of the Douglas House Apartments in Houghton passed away Saturday July 24, 2021, at the Canal View – Houghton County in Hancock where he had been a resident patient since 2019.
He was born on June 2, 1934, in Northville, MI, a son of the late George and Rose (LaPearl) Lawrence. Ronald was raised in the Northville, area and attended the Northville Schools.
Mr. Lawrence had worked for the teamsters Union as a truck driver for many years. He had resided in Highland, MI, Fairview, MI, Alger, MI, Houghton Lake, MI, and Chassell before making his home at the Douglas House Apartments in 2017.
Mr. Lawrence was united in marriage to the former Shirley Gates and they parted as friends after raising five children together. Ronald enjoyed spending time in the outdoors hunting and fishing.
He always looked forward to hunting trips to Northern Michigan and Canada. Mr. Lawrence also enjoyed going to the horse races and was a tractor trailer enthusiast.
Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters
Surviving are: His children: Weston (Annette) Lawrence of Chassell, Ron (Columba) Lawrence of Waterford, MI, Rick (Becky) Lawrence of Waterford, MI, Doug (Kimi) Lawrence of Claire, MI, Sherry (Keith) Huckaby of Griffen, GA; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; Several nieces, nephews and cousins
A private service for Ronald will be held a later time.
