Obituary: Ronald B. Crouch

Ronald B. Crouch of Calumet, Michigan passed away on September 11, 2024 at Canal View in Hancock, Michigan.

Ron was born on September 19, 1931 in Lake Linden, Michigan to Virgil and Cora (Beaudoin) Crouch.

Ron graduated from Lake Linden High School in 1950. He was drafted into the army and was proud to have served in Korea. He was awarded a bronze star for his service in combat.

Ronald married Rosemary Rost on April 23, 1955. She preceded him in death in October 2002. He married Janice Primeau on July 1, 2006.

Ron worked as a miner and also in plumbing and heating.

Ronald loved sports and enjoyed playing baseball, horse shoe and bowling. He loved the outdoors: hunting, stream fishing and berry picking. His interests and past times also included playing pinochle and spending time at his camp, Balsam Bend. In later years, Ron especially enjoyed viewing freighters and sunsets from his lakeshore home. He also enjoyed wintering in Green Valley, Arizona.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Cora, his first wife Rosemary Crouch and brothers Daryl and Leonard.

He is survived by his second wife Janice and his children David (Debra) Crouch, Barbra James, Clare (Gary) Mishica, Karen (Jon) Rastello and Rebecca (Mark) Waterman. Ron is also survived by grandchildren Diane and Ronnie; Andria and Jeff; Stephanie, Amanda, Christine and Joel; Corey and Kara; Sydney and Christian, 18 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Kathy (Herb) Leopold and brother-in-law Robert (Michele) Primeau.

Visitation will be held at St. Paul Apostle Church on Monday, September 16, 2024 from 9:00-11:00am. Mass will be at 11:00am with Father Paul Manderfield and Deacon Jeremiah Mason officiating. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery.

The family thanks the wonderful staff at Canal View during Ron’s last two weeks of his life.
