Rodney E. Winquist, 84, a resident of Calumet passed away on Saturday November 21, 2020 at UP Health System Portage.
He was born on August 7, 1936 a son of the late Arthur and Alma (Tolonen) Winquist.
Ron attended Calumet High School graduating with the class of 1956 and later received both his surveying degree from Michigan Tech in 1965, and his BS degree in Accounting in 1987.
In 1959 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably until his discharge in 1962.
On December 26, 1959 he was united in marriage to the former Lois Aho.
He completed his career as the Physical Plant Manager for Michigan Tech and retired in 2001.
Ron enjoyed many sports including football and hockey, as well as participating in both, along with coaching his son’s hockey team. In his retirement years he and Lois loved to travel across the U.S. and Canada.
Ron loved to relax with a fine whiskey and cigar.
He was happiest when spending time with his wife, son, and daughter-in-law, as well as seeing the entire family at gatherings.
Preceding him in death was his brother Robert.

Private family services will be held with spring burial to be in the Lake View Cemetery.
