Rodger Russell Cram, “Muggs”, age 84 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023 at D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.

He was born February 19, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa son of Carl and Evelyn (Larsen) Cram. Muggs served from 1956-60 in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate. He was a graduate of Clinton High School. Muggs married Debra Selden on January 6, 1988 in L’Anse, MI. He worked as an union iron worker, retiring in 1995 do to service connected hearing loss.

Muggs was an avid bear hunter with his dogs, had a passion for trapping, and enjoyed reading and history. He enjoyed being around people, especially his grand kids and friends. While living at the Jacobetti home he was treated like family and we would like to give a special thank you to all his caregivers for the care and compassion given to him.

Everyone who knew Muggs knew he could be the life of the party with his jokes and stories! He loved old country music and also loved to dance the night away. When he left us he of course stopped at rainbow bridge first and pick up his beloved Tarzan, patted the bear dogs on the head and told them “I’ll be back for all of you”! He was a wonderful sweet man, who was loved by most.. He will be greatly missed ♥️

Surviving are his wife Debra Cram of L’Anse; children, Lisa (Dan) Rasmussen of L’anse, Anthony Cram of Illinois, Sarah Hoppe of Clinton, Iowa; grandchildren, Toby Niemi, Slader Hoppe, Lauryn Schneider, Sawyer Hoppe, Monica Benesh, Kassyde Tracy, ; and two great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents Carl and Evelyn Cram; his grandparents that helped raise him; step children, Ricky Drew and Gretchen Denike; and his dog Tarzan.

A celebration of Muggs life along with military rites will be at a later date. Burial will be in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
