Robyn Gay Harju-Doolittle, age 54, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away at home unexpectedly on June 25th, 2022 after a long battle with Type 1 Diabetes.
Robyn was born on June 26th, 1967 to the late Alan and Gertrude “Gertie” Harju in Calumet, Michigan. She attended Calumet Schools, receiving her diploma in 1985. In the same year, she married Robert Massoglia who is also from Calumet, Michigan. In March of 1986, she became a mother to her only child, a daughter whom she named Brandy Lee. She and Robert continued living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for a short period before settling in Kalamazoo, Michigan where they raised their beloved daughter.
Robyn worked in various retail positions throughout her life, but the primary role she enjoyed the most was being a stay at home mother. In high school and beyond, she excelled at gymnastics. She was a great writer and loved books, passing along these skills to her daughter.
By namesake, Robyn soared through life with wings of a bird, for all of her years, she demonstrated “SISU” – a Finnish resilience and strength.
She will be remembered and survived by her daughter, Brandy Lee Massoglia of Portage, Michigan; spouse Mark Doolittle of Kalamazoo, Michigan; former spouse and lifelong friend, Robert “Bob” Massoglia of Portage, Michigan; siblings Debbie Berryman, Michael Harju, Marcy Frusti, and Dawn (Terry) Ouellette.
