Robert P. Belopavlovich, 70, of Ahmeek passed away peacefully Monday, March 14, at the home of his daughter in Petoskey, MI.
Robert was born on February 15, 1952, at Calumet Public Hospital in Laurium, eldest son of the late Paul and Helen Belopavlovich of Hubbell. Robert graduated from Lake Linden-Hubbell High School in 1970.
Robert served two years in the U.S. Air Force, then worked several years at White Pine Mine in Ontonogan traveling on the “Midnight Express.” He attended Northern Michigan University and graduated from technical college with a Certificate in Wastewater Management. He moved to Madison, WI, in 1981 where he worked for 28 years at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital. There he met his wife Susan who preceded him in death in October 2017.
Robert loved the outdoors, and fishing and hunting were his passions. He also loved the U.P. in general and held a wealth of knowledge in local history.
Also preceding Robert in death were his younger brother James Belopavlovich and nieces Gina Belopavlovich and Jennifer Belopavlovich.
Robert is survived by his daughter Sara (Brian Bieda) Belopavlovich of Petoskey, son Matthew (Steve) Belopavlovich of Tampa, FL, and grandson Niko Bieda. Brothers Steven (Joyce) Belopavlovich of Hancock and Mike (Janice) Belopavlovich of Green Bay. Uncle Dan Belo of Lake Linden, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Sister-in-law Ruth Harvey of Lake Linden. Special friends Frank Ozanich of Anmeek, Tim Vitense of Stoughton, WI, Charlie and Rosie Smith of Madison, WI, and Ken “Shoes” Couvion of Lake Linden.
On behalf of Robert, his family thanks Buzzo and Frank for making the trip to Petoskey several times during his illness and all who sent cards and well wishes. Appreciation also to caregiver Sarah Adkins of Blissful Home Care and oncologist Dr. Coppola of McLaren Northern Michigan.

Robert will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his warmth will live on in our hearts.
