Robert “Bob” Norden, 83, a resident of Calumet passed away on Thursday December 16, 2021 at UP Health System-Portage
Bob was born on October 25, 1938 in Laurium to Earl and Elza (MacKenzie) Norden.
He attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1956.
Following high school Bob attended Northern Michigan University earning his Bachelors of Science in Music Education and he received his Masters Degree from Northern Michigan University as well.
Bob started teaching at Houghton High School in 1961, he retired from 1991. Bob enjoyed travelling and playing and performing in music. Bob organized and played in many different community bands throughout his lifetime. They included the Top Hatters, Copper Country Clown Band, Keweenaw Swing Band, Backroom Boys, Calumet Community Band, the Swing Cats, Dixie Champs, and the was very active with the Calumet Players.
Through his teaching he influenced and inspired his students to excel to their highest potential in anything they did, especially music. His love of music was contagious.
He was awarded a humanitarian award from Main Street Calumet.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Elza Norden.
He is survived by his brothers: Don (Nataline) Norden of Webster, Florida
Bill (June) Norden of Longwood, Florida
His niece: Julie (Tim) Norden Larkins of Dalton, GA, and their children, Tyler Larkins and Jack Larkins.
His nephews: Gary ( Carrie) Norden of Apopka, Florida
Rick ( LaShawn) Norden of New Smyrna Beach, Florida
His Aunt: Betty Norden Dunbar of Slidell. Louisana
His cousin: Judy LeBris of Walnut Creek, California
And specials friends: Cate Lawrence, Benji (Annie) Brotherton, and Karen Tetzlaff
Per Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his life will take place in the summer of 2022.
