Obituary: Robert M. “Bob” Hollon

Robert M. “Bob” Hollon, age 84 of L’Anse, MI passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse. He was born in L’Anse on May 12, 1940 the son of the late Clayton and Lacy (Harris) Hollon. Bob attended L’Anse area schools and received his GED while serving his country in the United States Army. On August 8, 1970 he married the former Helen Mackiewicz in Langlade, WI. She preceded him in death in 2005. Bob had been employed for 50 years as a logger with All Wood Logging before retiring. He was a member of the former L’Anse VFW Post #3897 and the NRA. Bob enjoyed being outside, hunting deer and especially bear, gardening, making wood and bird watching.

Bob is survived by his loving daughter Polly Manning (John DeWitt) of L’Anse, brothers Jerry (Carol) Hollon of Skanee, Roger Hollon of Hill City, SD, and Albert Hollon of Aura, sister Almeda Hollon of Green Bay, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, his girlfriend Pat Van Able of L’Anse and his special dog “Willi”. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, sister Genetta Cole, brother Charlie Hollon, nephew Dale Hollon, sister-in-law Liz Hollon, son-in-law Joe Manning, and great nephew Justin Connor.

A celebration of life visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse. Military honors, under the direction of the Baraga American Legion Post #444 will be held at 12:30 p.m.

Please honor Bob by wearing your jeans and flannels.

Interment will take place in the Langlade Cemetery.
