Obituary: Robert James Hall

Allouez Township – Robert J. Hall 72, of Five Mile Point Road passed away on Saturday, July 23rd after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on November 5, 1949 in Laurium, a son of Percy and Margaret (Klingkhammer) Hall. He graduated from Calumet High School in 1968. While in high school he joined the Naval Reserves and served in the U.S. Navy in Viet Nam on the river boats. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He worked for a short time in the White Pine mine before attending NMU, where he earned a certification as a machinist. He did not pursue this as a career, he went to work for Calumet Electronics and eventually became Quality Assurance Manager for over 25 years. He was a member of the Mohawk Legion Post 230. He was married to Susan Gregorich in the Sacred Heart Church in Ahmeek on November 21, 1971. They celebrated fifty years of marriage last fall. He developed a passion for cooking and baking, and loved celebrating the holidays with family. He loved football and was a big fan of the Detroit Lions. Robert was preceded in death by his sister Renee, brother Gary, brothers-in-law James Markovich and Leland Korby. Also preceded by brother and sister-in-law Bernard and Geraldine Gregorich, and nephews Brian and Scott Markovich. He is survived by his loving family, wife Susan, sons Chris (Tammy) of Ripley, Kevin (Diane) of Prescott, Arizona, and granddaughters Monica and Taylor. Also surviving are his granddogs Ag, Ruby and Dale jr,, one niece, four nephews and a few cousins. The family would like to thank the Aspirus Keweenaw Oncology staff, and the Aspirus Hospice Care and staff and nurses Missy, Erica, Gail, Penny and Melanie and Jeanne, Roger and Holly for their excellent care. You brightened his chemo-days. In keeping with his wishes, their will be no funeral. Ryan Funeral Home is serving the family.
