Obituary: Robert A. Cloutier

CALUMET — Robert A. “Cougar” Cloutier, 68, passed away at home peacefully on September 9, 2018, with his love and belief in Jesus Christ.

He was born to ElRita (Rastello) Cloutier and Robert J. Cloutier of Laurium, on October 16, 1949.

He attended Sacred Heart Grade School through the eighth grade, graduating with the Calumet High School Class of 1967.

While in high school, he joined the U.S. Naval Reserves, then enlisted in the Navy and received an honorable discharge.

He attended Suomi College for one year, then began his career as a lineman with Cable Contractors of Iron Mountain.

After three years with them, he took a supervisor position with Schenck Communications, overseeing the splicing on major builds in San Antonio, Texas; Vancouver, Washington; Anchorage, Alaska; Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota; over a span of sixteen years.

He then took a position with PTI as a foreman in Gig Harbor, Washington.

After ten years with PTI, he took a position as supervisor with Potelco Inc., in Portland, Oregon.

He returned to Calumet to help with the care of his beloved mother.

Cougar had a great love for Copper Harbor, which he passed on to his daughter, Tammy.

He also had a great love of music, and was an accomplished musician. His all time favorite band was the Beatles, and his love of music was contagious and was passed on to his nephew, Chase.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Candace; his Rast- ello-Cloutier grandparents; and several aunts, cousins, and uncles.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy; his stepdaughter, Cristabelle (Ken) Mitchell, and their children, Christian and Ken; his sisters, Karen (Charles) Cavis, Charlsie Antikainen, and Nonnie (Ted) Karvonen; his brother, Peter (Sue) Cloutier; his nieces, Melissa, Lisa and Laurie; his nephews, Chase and Evan; his special great- nieces, Miranda, Aili, Breanne, Christina, and Ashley; his special great- nephews, Sam, Jonathon, Joey and Montez; several cousins; special aunts, Marjorie Tavernini and Alice Rastello; and his cat, Puma.

A committal service is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018, in the Lake View Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Abraham Mupparathara to officiate.
