Obituary: Richard Noel Morin

Richard Noel Morin, age 63 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, MI.

He was born December 27, 1957 son of Elzior and Elizabeth (James) Morin. He served in the United States Coast Guard, and worked as a Correctional Officer at the Maximum Security Prison in Marquette from 1984-1988. He also worked as an Emergency Medical Technician for many years for Bay Ambulance in Baraga, and worked his way up into management at the Ojibwa Casino, retiring as the Head of Security in 2002. Other more recent jobs have included working at a Plasma Center in Detroit, and as a Truck Driver for Swift Trucking and Schneider Trucking.

He loved classic rock music, The Beatles and John Lennon. He was a drummer for a couple of different local bands in the 80’s and 90’s. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his kids, and grand kids. He also loved playing (in his younger years) and watching baseball and football and attending his children’s’ sporting events. In his spare time, he would work on perfecting many different wood-working projects.

Surviving are his wife Laurie Morin of L’Anse; children, Rachel (Chris) Morin-Brady of Apple Valley Minnesota; Elizabeth (Kyle) Morin-Jasmin of Marquette MI., Lindsey (Bill) Borland of North Bend Oregon, RJ Morin of North Bend Oregon; grandchildren, William Borland, Xavier Borland, Alex Borland, Leira & Reyna Jasmin; brother, Ron Morin of Baraga; half-sister Donna; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents Al and Betty; sister Peggy; brothers, Jim, and Pete; and half-sister Virginia “Anne”.

A traditional native funeral service will be held on Friday, July 16th at 1 p.m. at the KBIC Zeba Hall. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. with Baraga County Area Veterans conducting military rites. Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
