Richard J. King, 82, a resident of Atlantic Mine, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at his home with family by his side.
Richard was born on December 7, 1940, in Trimountain, to the late Fred and Bessie (Perry) King. He was a graduate of the Jeffers High School with the class of 1958. Following school, Richard joined the US Army serving 3 years. On October 30, 1963, he was united in marriage to the former Nancy Lahikainen. The couple resided in Brimley, MI before returning to Trimountain in 1965 and ultimately making their home in Atlantic Mine in 1976.
Richard was employed as a Linesman at Upper Peninsula Power Company and retired in 2000. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his time at the Four Seasons Camp, which he helped build and establish in Toivola.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy of Atlantic Mine
His sons: Richard of Port Washington, WI
Randall of Hubertus, WI
2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild
His brother, Fred (Betty) King of Exeter, NH
His sister, Charlene Grimsby of Marquette, MI
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dog, Tyson.
A private celebration of life for Richard will be held later this summer.
