Richard H. “Dick” Trudgeon, Sr., 86, of Twin Lakes, died Saturday, May 1, 2021, as a result of injuries due to an ORV accident.
He was born June 29, 1934, in Trimountain, a son of the late William and Lillian (Palmer) Trudgeon, and was a 1952 graduate of the Jeffers High School.
Dick was employed for several years at Michigan Tech. He also taught a welding night school class at the Houghton High School and did carpentry work.
For 16 years, he was a seasonal worker at the Twin Lakes State Park.
Dick served four years in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
In November of 1982, he was married to the former Barbara Champion in Houghton.
He was an active member of the community, being involved in numerous organizations. He was a retired member of the Twin Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Elm River Township Board of Trustees and was a lifetime member of the Range Snowmobile Club, just to highlight a few of the many things he was involved in. Some of his fondest memories were going on motorcycle trips with friends.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Barbara of Twin Lakes; a daughter, Carla and her fiancé, Darin Kiesling of Necedah, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Logan Saari, and Roger Trudgeon, Jr. of South Range; two sisters, Lillian Coponen of Holly, Michigan, Nancy Rugani of Lake Linden; a brother, William Trudgeon of Wayne, Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Dick was also preceded in death by three sons, Randy, Roger and Rick.
Dick’s wishes were to be cremated with no services. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range. The family suggests memorials be made to the Twin Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, 32850 Hwy. M-26,Toivola, MI 49965 in Dick’s memory.
