Richard A. “Rick” Mayzes passed away on March 18, 2019 at 1:50 pm in his beloved adopted Village of L’Anse, MI.
He was born in Ann Arbor on May 29, 1942, where he attended catholic and public schools. He worked many jobs in his long and varied career, most of them as a chef.
He was also a barber in Ann Arbor where he gave Jimmy Durante a haircut.
He loved the UP and made countless friends in the Keweenaw Bay area, who will miss his vibrant and colorful personality.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles J. Mayzes, his mother, Leona Allen Mayzes and his brother, Frank Mayzes.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley A. (Hank) Muir, brothers, Charles (Andrea) Mayzes and Tim Mayzes. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with the arrangements.
