Reuben Luttinen, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2021, at Canal View Houghton county.
Reuben was born on November 17, 1935 in Hancock, Michigan, to parents Oscar Koski and Tyyne (Luttinen) Kinnunen. He graduated from Houghton High school with the class 1953. After Graduation he joined the US Coast Guard where he served until 1959. He then spent many years working on Ore Boats on the Great Lakes and the Ocean. He settled down with his wife Marion (Scott) Luttinen in Chicago where he worked in the boiler room at the Best Foods Factory until he retired 1999. After he retired he moved to Texas. In 2012 he moved back to the copper country where he lived until he passed away. Reuben enjoyed playing music, going for long rides in the car and swimming anywhere he got the chance. He was a kind hearted man. He loved his nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his pets very much.
Reuben is survived by his nieces; Debbie (Kim) Wiitala, of Calumet, Brenda (Joe) Olsen, of Point Mills, Lisa Tracey, of Calumet, Lori Kaipio of Calumet, Linda (Dan) Marsden of Calumet, Kim (Tim) Reilly of Calumet, Stacy (Doug) Kemppinen of Detroit: his nephews, Ken (Terri) Olsen, of Calumet, Kevin Olsen, of Calumet, Glen (Jayme) Olson of California, Mark Olson of Minnesota, Kurt Olson of Calumet, Eric (Laura) Olson of Calumet; and his sister in-law, Dede Olson, of Calumet.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Koski and Tyyne (Luttinen) Kinnunen; his wife Marion Luttinen; his step daughter Linda Marcia Howerton; his step father, Jack Kinnunen; his brothers Gary Olson, Russell Olson and Jerry Olson: his sister Starlet Paavilainen: and his nephew Robert Sweeney.
A funeral service is scheduled for Reuben Luttinen on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 6:30 pm, at the Erickson Crowley Peterson funeral home in Calumet, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 5-6:30pm, at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral home. There will be a graveside service held in the Waasa Cemetery on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 5:00 pm.
