Obituary: Reino Hill

Reino Hill, age 92 of Covington, MI passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at his home.

He was born March 26, 1926 in Covington, MI son of William and Fiina (Hopiavuori) Hill. Reino attended school in Covington and then at CJ Sullivan in L’Anse. He was in the US Army from 1950-52 during the Korean War. Reino worked on the family farm for a few years prior to working at Cleveland Cliffs where he worked from 1957 until retiring in 1987.

Reino was a member of the VFW Post #8945 in Covington. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, feeding and watching the wildlife, and also enjoyed his sauna.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Tauno Hill, Helmi Arvo, Bertha Kanniainen, and Laila Kantola.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 30th from 11-12 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Baraga County Area Veterans will conduct military rites at 12 p.m. under the direction of the American Legion Post 444 followed by a funeral service with Pastor Peter Suomela officiating. A luncheon will follow at the VFW in Covington. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
