Raymond Kinnunen, age 83, formerly of Calumet, Michigan passed away on Friday, June 9, 2023, at UP Health Systems – Marquette with his family by his side.
Raymond was born on August 9, 1939, to parents William and Margaret (Klintti) Kinnunen. He attended local schools and he learned to be a hard worker from an early age. He worked at local potato farms, planted the big family garden, and made firewood for the family home.
Raymond loved taking care of his parents. He enjoyed watching local hockey games and was an avid Red Wings fan. He liked walking to the store and going to Jim’s Pizza on Fridays and visiting with friends. He was known as a very kind and gentle person.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret, brothers Edward, Norman, and Charles Kinnunen.
He is survived by his sister-in-law Una Kinnunen and nephew Laurence of Clarkston, MI. Also, nephews Bruce (Karen) Kinnunen of Hancock and Brian Kinnunen of Boseman, Montana. He is also survived by nieces, Holly (Steve) Bianco of L’Anse, Michigan, Connie (Steve) Latvis of Appleton, Wisconsin, Judy (Jay) Edwards of Neenah, Wisconsin, and Debbie LaFave of Wausau, Wisconsin and numerous great nephews and nieces, several cousins, and friends.
A funeral service for Raymond Kinnunen will be held at the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet, Michigan on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, at 11:00 am with a visitation from 10:00-11:00 am at the Erickson-Crowley-Peterson Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023. Burial will take place following the service at the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek, Michigan.
