Ramona Estelle LeClaire, age 83, of L’Anse, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2018 after a long illness, at the Lighthouse of Hancock.
She was born on August 22, 1934, the daughter of the late Peter and Stella (Rock) Getzen. Ramona graduate from Baraga High School in 1952. She had worked as the Executive Secretary to the President for Pettibone in Baraga and Fort Worth and also worked for Bell Telephone. Ramona was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse and the Lakeside Singers. On June 20, 1953 she married Ronald John LeClaire at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Baraga, MI. She loved gardening, cooking and baking and she was a gifted and creative artist. Ramona also loved visiting with her friends and family. She was always a positive and sweet person.
Ramona is survived by her loving children, Ronald “Chip” LeClaire of L’Anse, Gary LeClaire of Fort Worth, Texas and Gail (Tom) Fitzpatrick of Hudson Oaks, Texas, grandchildren, Kristen, Austin, Kylie, Tommy, Sarah, Miles, Ashley, Vanessa, Logan, Marc and Carmela; great grandchildren Hadley, Brody, Jameson, Zane and Remington, siblings, JoDean (Nick) Lindemann, Peter (Jean) Getzen Jr. and Paul “Topper” Getzen. She was preceded in death by her husband Ron LeClaire, daughter Michelle Hill and her sister Marilyn Gagnon.
A celebration of Ramona’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the L’Anse VFW Post #3897 from 5 pm until 8 pm. with Father Corey Litzner conducting a memorial service at the VFW at 6:30 pm. A luncheon will be held immediately following the memorial funeral service at the VFW.
The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse, MI has been entrusted with the arrangements.
