Obituary: Philip Baranowski

Philip Gordon Baranowski (Pops), age 81, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday March 11th, 2022. He was born on April 10th, 1940 in Swedetown, a son of the late Leo and Gladys (Johnson) Baranowski. Phil graduated from Calumet High School in 1958. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for four years. He then worked for the C&H Mining Company and later for Calumet Electronics until his retirement as Vice President and General Manager in 2006.

Phil married Elizabeth “Betty” Renwick on November 4th, 1967. Phil loved outdoor activities, including hunting and cooking at the Twin Pines Lodge and he loved dancing. Phil also enjoyed Green Bay Packers football, trips to the casino, and he never went anywhere without his special four-legged friend Bear.

Phil was a member of the Calumet Village Fire Department, the Foresters Club, Lions Club, and the Elks Club.

Phil is preceded in death by wife Betty, his parents, his brothers Jerry, Richard, Jake, and Bob Baranowski, his sisters June Lewandowski, Bernice Raedeke, and Deana Jarve.

He is survived by his loving partner Jayne Harvey, his sister, Dolly Rowe, his sister-in-law Sharon Baranowski, his children Debra (Dave) Crouch, Beth (Mike) Salmela, Lori (Tom) Clute, and Phil (Cathy) Baranowski along with numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 on Tuesday March 15, 2022 at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home with Pastor Jared Howard to officiate. Visitation will take place on Tuesday March 15, 2022 at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
