Paul John Edward Lampela, age 91 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at his home.
He was born August 21, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI son of Axel and Elmie(Laajala) Lampela. Paul graduated from Hancock High School in 1948, then served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, from 1950-54. In 1956 he received a Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Paul married the former Ruth Lescelius on June 29, 1957 in Chassell, MI. Paul worked for Ford from 1956-2006, living in Northville, MI. In 2006 he moved to L’Anse. Paul loved dancing, ice dancing, the golf range and enjoyed working.
Surviving are his sons, Eric (Brenda) Lampela of Franklin, TN, Bruce (Lisa) Lampela of Cherokee Valley, AR, Gary Lampela of L’Anse, Paul (Traci) Lampela II of Wixon, MI; daughter Nancy (Robin) Byrge of L’Anse; grandchildren, Heidi, Hannah, Taylor, Hayley, Andrew, Emily, Adam; great grandchildren, Henry, Graham, and June.
Preceding him in death are his parents; wive Ruth Lampela; and sister Virginia.
Per his request there will be no funeral service. Burial will be in the Keweenaw Bay Cemetery. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
