Obituary: Patricia Louise Crampton

Patricia Louise (Patti) Crampton, age 73 of Allouez, passed way on May 29, 2024 at Garden View following a lengthy illness. Patti was born on January 26, 1951 in Grand Ledge, Michigan. She moved to the U.P. with her husband of 42 years Robert Crampton who preceded her in death. She worked at the Gilmar Gift Shop in Houghton, Michigan where she started making copper wire trees. Later she opened “The Copper Tree” in Hubbell, Michigan, a small consignment shop for local people to sell their crafts, which would later become Crampton Surveying. Bob and Patti had also purchased and operated the Eagle Harbor General Store for several years. Patt’s dream was to be an art teacher as she was very artistic and creative. Instead, Patti obtained a job with the Copper Country Intermediate School District from which she retired in 2012 after 25 years of service. She loved spending time with family and friends playing cards, golfing, camping, fishing and four wheeling. She loved spending time at any beach with special friend Pam. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ronald and Lois Staffen, brothers Michael and James Staffen and a son Robert Crampton. She is survived by two daughters Jamie (James) Dube, and Tricia Crampton (Tony Spagnottti), a son David Crampton, grandchildren Christopher (Phaedra) LaBonte, Timery (Sean) Minch, Candice (Adam) Miles and great-grandchildren Layden, Hallie, Tucker, Ava, Gemma and Althea. A burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery in Grand Ledge at a later date. A celebration of life will take place in Ahmeek Park on July 13th from 2 to 6 p.m. Ryan Funeral Home is serving the family.
