Patricia Fern Korkko passed away on Wednesday November 8th, 2023 at Canal View Skilled Nursing Facility where she has been a resident for the past seven years.
She was born in Laurium, MI on March 16, 1946 to Sulo and Adele Salonen and raised in Calumet, MI. She was a graduate of Calumet High School.
Patricia (Patsy) married Bruce Allen Korkko on June 18, 1966. They moved from Saginaw Michigan to White Pine, Michigan in 1968, where they raised their two children, Mark and Glenn. She moved to Houghton, Michigan in 2006 to be closer to her family. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband Bruce (1992) and her son Glenn (1996). She is survived by her son Mark (Nora) Korkko of Chassell, MI, three grandchildren, Kaitlin, Zachary and Aili. Patricia is also survived by her two brothers Richard (Pat) Salonen of Laurium, MI and Glen (Linda) Salonen of Traverse City, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.
Patricia was a loving homemaker for her family. She adored her children and grandchildren and always made a point to be there for her family. She also enjoyed needle point, painting, crafting, word search puzzles and listening to country music. She had a passion for keeping the mail order catalog business in the red and was the queen of ugly Christmas sweaters. Patricia was active with the White Pine American Legion auxiliary until her Houghton move and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She had several lifelong friends, including Veronica Store who helped her through very difficult times of loss. Patricia had a deep faith in the lord and enjoyed listening to the Sunday sermons.
In leu of gifts, Patricia would wish to have donations made to the Copper County Humane Society or www.cchumansociety.com . A small ceremony of remembrance will be held at the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral home, Siskiwit Hall on Tuesday, November 14th at 1:00 pm. Followed by a small graveside service at 2:00 pm at the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet, MI.
