Obituary: Patricia A. Barrette

As received from Antila Funeral Service:

Patricia “Pat” A. Barrette (Archambeau), 74, was born January 17, 1946, and called to her eternal rest with the Lord on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Portage Pointe with her three children at her side.

Pat met the love of her life, Jerome Edward and they were united in marriage on August 7, 1965, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hancock.

Pat devoted her life to raising her children and teaching them the importance of God, faith and family. She was often seen being a kid at heart as she played Frisbee tag or went tobogganing with the neighborhood kids, traditions she continued with her grandchildren. Some of Pat’s favorite things were family picnics, walking along the beach, bowling and everyone was family!

Pat was a strong woman who had a way of putting people at ease. Her devotion to her Catholic faith and family was unyielding, whether caring for her mother and father in their final days, supporting her family when Jerome’s health started to falter, or when she gave up her cleaning business to care for her grandchildren.

Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Laura Archambeau; her husband, Jerome; and sisters, Nancy Archambeau and Caroline Messner.

Pat is survived by her brother, Stanley (Linda) Archambeau of Hurontown; her sister, Theresa (Ron) Kokkonen of Dollar Bay; her children, Mary Barrette of Baraga, Rich (Trina) Barrette of Hancock, and Barb (Joe) Gerborkoff of Hancock; her grandchildren, Laura Barrette, Jeffery Barrette-Potter, Dominic Barrette, Caitlynne Barrette, Rebekah Barrette and Zachary Geborkoff; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

The family of Pat would like to give special thanks to the staff at Portage Pointe for the abundant kindness, care and concern you provided our dear mother while she was a resident there. Your jobs and the services you provide are challenging. Not everyone is cut out for that line of work, but we would like to commend your organization for putting together a staff to be very proud of! This staff is a true credit to the nursing profession and we wish them the best in all of their future endeavors.

A private funeral Mass for Pat will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock, with Fr. William Ssozi as celebrant. In keeping with Covid restrictions, masks are required. Rites of committal and interment will be held at a future date. Friends may call on Friday, August 21, 2020, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jukuri-Antila Funeral Home in Hancock. Weather permitting, visitation will take place outdoors. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at antilafuneral.com.
