HOUGHTON
Pamela Anne Sheridan
Pam was born January 30th, 1958, to Arthur and Rita Motz in St. Johns, Michigan. She was raised on the family dairy farm and spoke of her perfect childhood.
In high school, Pam excelled at music where she was the first chair flute and was a fire twirler at evening sporting events. Although she was shy about sharing this fact, she was elected the Homecoming Queen her senior year in high school. Pam graduated from Central Michigan University in 1979 with majors in Therapeutic Recreation and Art Education.
She met her husband, Mick, while working as a therapist for Saginaw County. They married in 1984, and moved to the Copper Country in 1985.
Pam worked at Copper Country Mental Health and later for the Houghton school system. She was a support staff for a young man with autism who remained a lifelong friend. She later worked for Keweenaw Family Resource Center with young children. She described her colleagues at that organization as her sisters.
Pam was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Parish of Houghton where she taught Catechism for several years. She was always willing to volunteer her time wherever needed. The greatest joy of Pam’s life was her children, Meghan and Patrick. Later in life, Pam came to embrace distance running and performing with her good friends in the local band, Uncle Floyd. “MotzArt”, her line of unique handmade jewelry took the Copper Country fashion scene by storm in 2011.
Pam had an offbeat and unique sense of humor and would do anything for a laugh. She dearly loved her friends, had an infectious personality and indiscriminately shared her passion for life. Heaven acquired another angel on May 29th, 2018. Her final wish was for her friends to remember her by having as much fun as possible.
