Obituary: Oliver Manzini

Oliver F. Manzini, D.D.S., a resident of Laurium Michigan, passed away on Friday November 26, 2021, at the age of 101.

He was born on June 24, 1920, in Calumet, a son of the late John and Eufemia (Bianchi) Manzini.

Oliver graduated in 1938 from Calumet High School. He served during World War II, in the Army Air Forces, as a medic, and was honorably discharged on December 1, 1945.

He and Margaret Modrok were married on September 15, 1951. They resided in Ann Arbor while completing his dental degree from the University of Michigan.

Upon Graduation in 1955, they moved back to the Copper Country where he practiced until retirement.

He was a devoted walker and avid gardener. His curiosity with foreign languages and travel took them around the world.

He was a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, belonged to numerous organizations and served on boards at both the State and Local levels.

Preceding him in death are his wife and dance partner, Margaret; brothers Peter (Holly) and Gino (Evelyn) Manzini; sister Mary (John) Cima; nephews Don Modrok, Richard and James Lamerand and Great-Niece Kelly (Cima) Aho.

Surviving are his daughter Margo (Joe) Tobias and family, Noel (Tina) Tobias, Holly (Tim) Slaughter, Kyle Tobias, Ella and Emersyn Slaughter; nephews; David (Debbie) Cima and John (Laurie) Manzini; nieces Kathleen (Guy) St. Germain, Lisa (John) Manzini-Pace, Carol Modrok and their families.

He had a wonderful zest for life, a genuine interest in people and was constantly learning. He was a true Gem.

The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home in Calumet is assisting the family with the arrangements. Burial will take place in the summer of 2022.
