Norman K. Makela
Calumet. Norm passed away April 16, 2024.
He was born June 14, 1939 in Hancock, the son of Elmer and Allie (Lehtola) Makela.
He attended Hancock Schools graduating with the Hancock high School, Class of 1957.
On August 27, 1960 he married the former Lucille Perona who passed away May 19, 2023.
Together they had two sons, Gregory and Steven.
Norm worked for the Houghton Flour Mill as a delivery man. He then worked for Calumet and Hecla in the foundry and the Ahmeek Mill in Lake Linden until C&H closed. He worked for several construction companies as a finishing carpenter until his retirement.
Norm liked to collect old tools and invented tools which would help on his little jobs.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Lucille.
Surviving are his sons, Gregory and Steven (Barbara), grandchildren Anna (John) Grey, Stephanie (Christopher) Schroepher, Barbara, Joseph and Julia makela, a great grandson, Augustine Schroepfer, his sister-in law, Victoria Perona and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private family service will be held at Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
