Norman George Juntunen, age 82 passed away peacefully Thursday, August 8, 2019 at his home in Farmington Hills, MI surrounded his wife and family.
He was born January 21, 1937 in Nisula, son of Arthur and Armita (Lepisto) Juntunen. Norm grew up in Nisula and graduated from Baraga High School in 1954. He served in the National Guard for 4 years after graduation. He married Jeanette Kaarto May 1, 1959 and remained happily married for over 60 years. Norman made his living as a drywall taper for 35 years and retired in 2000. He enjoyed playing guitar, spending time at his farm house in Nisula riding his John Deere tractor and taking a good sauna, working crossword and sudoku puzzles, walking at the mall, having coffee with his friends, and spending time with family.
Surviving are his loving wife Jeanette; his children Charlene (Robert) Kemppainen, Steven (Tracy), Jean (Michael) Holroyde, Donna (Brady) Harris, and Sarah (Brent) Haifley; grandchildren, Rachel, Kyle, Jessica, Mary, Joshua, Jeremy, Julianne, and Christine; great grandchildren, Westin, Bodhin, Aili, Hannah, Bennett, and Freya; brothers and sisters; Lilian (Peter) VanStraten, and Harold; sisters-in-law Alice and Jane; and brother-in-law Jim Loman.
Preceding him death are his parents; brothers Arnold, Raymond and James; sisters Mae Loman and Jean Clisch; sisters-in-law Joyce and Judy; and grandchild Michael.
On Monday, August 12th a visitation and funeral services will take place at Holy Cross Lutheran Church 30650 Six Mile Road, Livonia 48152, beginning at 10:00 am with a Funeral Service at 11:00 am.
On Friday, August 16th a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Mission United Lutheran Church in Pelkie with Rev. D. J. Rasner officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the Nisula Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
