Norma S. Kangas, 97, a former resident of the Arbor Green Apartments passed away Sunday July 1, 2018 at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past three years.
She was born on January 18, 1921, in Paavola, a daughter of the late Tom and Hannah (Jylha) Olson.
Norma was united in marriage to Arthur O. Kangas and he preceded her in death on October 31, 1961.
She had worked as a waitress for various restaurants in the area.
Mrs. Kangas was a member of First Lutheran Church of Dollar Bay and enjoyed working on craft projects, knitting, crocheting and beading.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, her brothers her sisters and her son-in-law William “Butch” Zenner.
Surviving are:
Her children: Gloria Zenner and Richard (Betty) Kangas
Her grandson: Mark (Paula) Zenner
Her great grandchildren: Blaire & Sloane Zenner
Her brother: Tom (Nancy) Olson
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
As requested no service will be held and burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
The Memorial Chapel & Plowe Funeral Homes of Hancock have been assisting the family with the arrangements.
