Nancy (Tom) Olson, 86, a resident of Hancock passed away Friday afternoon February 1, 2019, at home surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy & Courageous battle with dementia.
She was born on November 28, 1932, in Pewabic Location, a daughter of the late Matt and Hilda (Kinnunen) Kokko. Nancy was raised in Klingville and was a graduate of the Chassell High School with the class of 1951.
Nancy then moved to Hancock where she worked as a clerk for Quality Foods. On July 16, 1960, she was united in marriage to Thomas Olson. Mrs. Olson stayed home to help raise their five children. She then began a career as a nurse’s Aide worked for Janis Home Health Care retiring after 17 years.
Mrs. Olson enjoyed spending countless hours at the family cottage in Keweenaw Bay, visiting family and friends daily. She truly loved her winter trips with Tom to Florida to visit their son Tom Jr. Nancy never left the house without a camera, she loved taking pictures, berry picking, baking and giving out free hugs. She adored all children and animals.
Preceding her in death were her Parents, 11 Siblings, her daughter-in-law: Debbie Olson (Tom Jr.’s wife) and her grandson Brandon Olson.

A private graveside service for Nancy will be held later this spring in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.
Nancy’s family is very grateful for the care given to her by UP Health Systems Home Care and Hospice. They would like to thank all the staff who went above and beyond in Nancy’s final days.
