Nancy Christine Luoma, 89, passed away at Canal View-Houghton County in Hancock, MI on February 23, 2023. Her life ended in the city where she was born on December 31, 1933. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Martha (Turovaara) Luoma, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her cat, “Piku.”
Nancy’s education began at the little schoolhouse in Jacobsville, Michigan. When the family moved to Highland Park, MI, she continued her education and graduated from Highland Park High School. She completed two years at the junior college in Highland Park and worked as an assistant librarian in the college for the next 34 years.
When she retired, she moved to Lake Linden, MI until becoming a resident at Gardenview in Calumet. She was a longtime member of The First Apostolic Church in Calumet Township.
For many years, Nancy was an active member of the Aspirus Hospital’s Women’s Auxiliary. As a breast cancer survivor, she participated in many of the Cancer Relays in Houghton, MI. She was a supporter of many activities at the Jacobsville Community Center and the Bootjack Fire Department.
Nancy is survived by her sister: Susan Copeland (Richard) and Barbara Luoma Ryan (Gary); niece, Shelley Copeland; nephews: Erik Copeland (Belinda), Shawn Copeland (Sonya), Matthew Ryan (Barbara), Phillip Bickham (Kathy); cousin: Sharon Turovaara; and a loving extended family.

Burial will be at a later date at the Jacobsville Cemetery. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
