Obituary: Molly Gail Kus

As received from the Fassbender Swanson Henson Funeral and Cremation Services:

MARQUETTE, MI – Molly Gail Kus, age 40, of Marquette, entered eternal life Thursday morning, November 14, 2019, at her home, in the loving, comforting care of her family and caregivers of Upper Peninsula Home Health and Hospice.

Born November 16, 1978, in Marquette, the daughter of Randy and Gail (Niemela) Roberts, Molly was raised in Houghton County’s Bootjack. Early on, Molly developed a passion for learning and teaching, a gift she enjoyed sharing with others. She graduated from Lake Linden High School in 1997 and enrolled at Northern Michigan University, from where she earned her teaching degree. Her career in teaching began in the Calumet Laurium Keweenaw (CLK) School System teaching kindergarten. In 2001, Molly was united in marriage to John Kus in Lake Linden and, soon after, the couple moved to Marquette. Molly was employed with Negaunee’s Lake View Elementary School for six years and most recently at the Negaunee Middle School. She was highly respected by her peers and students alike, and was often requested when a teacher was needed. However, aside from her professional life, Molly’s main priority was her family, especially spending time with her daughter, Romy, the pride and joy of her life. Family activities took precedence and weekends, summer and winter, were often spent at the family cabin in Bootjack, filled with waterskiing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and taking in all the beautiful Keweenaw had to offer. In her leisure, she also had an appreciation and love for interior design and decorating.

Molly is survived by her husband, John Kus of Marquette; her daughter, Romy Kus of Marquette; parents, Randy and Gail Roberts of Bootjack; a brother, Bill (Amy) Roberts of Bootjack; her nephews, Randy and Sam Roberts of Bootjack, Kellen and Caleb Klein of Lake Linden; her niece, Natalie Erkkila of Lake Linden; in-laws, Keith and Colleen Kus of Lake Linden; brother-in-law, Jeff (Melissa) Klein of Lake Linden; sister-in-law, Christy Richards of Lake Linden; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Fassbender Swanson Hansen Funeral and Cremation Services on Saturday, November 16, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on Sunday, November 17, at 1:00 pm with Rev. Chad Ott officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be made in the spring in Lake Linden.

Memorials may be directed to UP Home Health and Hospice, 1125 W. Ridge Street, Marquette, MI 49855.
