Obituary: Milton Paul Heikkinen

Calumet: Milton Paul Heikkinen, 77, of Calumet and Houghton, passed away on May 11, 2018 at The Omega House in Houghton with his loving children by his side, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on November 5, 1940, in Mohawk, the town he referred to as his “stomping grounds.” He attended school in Mohawk. He served in the US Army.
Milton worked as a miner for C&H and White Pine. Later, he worked for Northern Hardwoods and Horner Flooring until his retirement.
He was married to Doris Spelich in August of 1962. She passed away in July of 1998.
Milton enjoyed rock-hounding and looking for Lake Superior agates, along with metal detecting. He loved country music, but above all else, was his faith in Jehovah. He became a baptized Jehovah’s Witness in 2002 and he loved going out in the ministry.

Revelation 21:4
“And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and three brothers-Teddy, Maurice, and Douglas.
He is survived by: 4 children-Tammy (James) Tourtillott of Dollar Bay, Jason of Houghton, Renee of Portland, OR, and Brian of Detroit, MI. He is also survived by-Alyssa Tourtillott; whom he considered his granddaughter; sisters-in-law-Darlene (Clifton) Brusso and Jane Rothenberger; and nephew-Jerry Heikkinen.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden. The funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 7:00 P.M. with Timothy Machnik, an elder from the Hancock Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses to officiate.
Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
