Obituary: Michelle Murphy

As received from the Pearce Funeral Home:

Bootjack: Michelle Murphy, 53, of Bootjack, passed away surrounded by family, on September 9, 2019, at the Omega House in Houghton, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Green Bay, WI, to parents Charles and the late Barbara (Williquette) Sokolski on August 23, 1966.  She married the love of her life, high school sweetheart, James Murphy, on September 14, 1989.  Michelle was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, class of 1984.

Michelle’s whole life revolved around her family, especially her two daughters.  Those who knew Michelle will remember her for her kind and caring ways. Michelle always saw the good in all people, and lived a simple life devoted to her family.  Michelle enjoyed the outdoors, tending her flower gardens, and had a love for all animals, especially her yellow lab, tug.

After raising her two daughters, Michelle became a CNA for a short time, as well as managed her husband’s business, up until her passing.

Michelle is preceded in death by her loving mother, Barbara (Williquette) Sokolski.

Surviving are: her husband, James Murphy of Bootjack; daughters, Christina Murphy of Green Bay and Jessica (Eric Uren) Murphy of Crystal Falls; brother, Mitch (Cindy Garrigan) Sokolski of Navarino; sister, Nancy (Sokolski) Brockin of DePere; in-laws, James and Sharon (DuLong) Murphy of Hancock; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family.  She left this earth too soon and will be greatly missed by all.

A private gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.  The family would like to express their thanks to the Omega House, family, and friends for their help and support.

The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is assisting the family.
