Obituary: Michelle G. Bowman

As received from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel:

Michelle G. Bowman fought the good fight, finished her race, and kept the faith until she was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, July 21, 2024.

Michelle was born to Larry Asher and Linda (Maki Asher) LaPine on August 11, 1977, on Williams Air Force Base in Arizona. She was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, where she resided until her passing, with the love of her life, William “Henry” Bowman, whom she met at age 15 and married on July 3, 2021. She received her GED from Flint Genesee Job Corps.

Michelle was a loving, devoted wife, mother, and cherished family member. She will be remembered for her kind, soft-spoken nature, and playful spirit. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and children, cooking, snapping and sharing pictures, her cats, playing board games, especially Scrabble with her husband and Yahtzee with the kids, watching movies, listening to music, and collecting 80’s and 90’s memorabilia. Her warm, bright smiles, infectious giggle, and witty one-liners will be greatly missed.

Michelle is survived by her husband, William “Henry” Bowman; children Logan, Joran, and Shyana; grandsons Trenton and Zachary Degenaer; mother, Linda LaPine; Siblings Danielle (Dan) Haapala, Jon Asher, and Lynette (Austin) Carrick; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Michelle was preceded in death by her Grandparents, John and Gladys (Knapp) Asher and Samuel and Jeanette (Mongoose) Maki; her father, Larry Asher, daughter Alysha Bowman; stepfather, Mark LaPine; mother-in-law Marie Kagabitang and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
