Graveside services and Military Honors for Michael K. Niemi, 67, a resident of Hancock, who passed Monday, April 8, 2019, at home with his family by his side will be held 4:00 pm, Thursday, May 23, 2019, in the Liminga Cemetery.

The ultimate lover of life, Michael K. Niemi, 67, a resident of Hancock, passed Monday, April 8, 2019 at home with his family by his side.
Mike was born in Hancock on March 18, 1952, the son of the late Wallace and Lillian (Kero) Niemi. He attended the Redridge School and graduated from the Houghton High School with the Class of 1970. Following graduation, Mike enlisted with the US Army. On August 20, 1977, he was united in marriage to Susan Jokela. He had worked various jobs being employed at Suomi College, Holiday Gas Station, Portage Health, 15 years at Mercy Ambulance, and Michigan Tech until his retirement.
Mike was a member of the Ripley Fire Department, Isle Royale Boaters Association, American Legion Post 291 of Lake Linden, and the Copper Country Pool League.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Susan of Hancock
His Children; Sarah, Tim (Nicole) and Brad, all of Hancock
His grandchildren; Zachary Stoor at Stanford University
Lillian and Abigail Stoor of Okemos, MI
Kyler Niemi of Hancock
His siblings: Phyllis (Thomas) Burge of Manistique, MI

Funeral Services for Mike will be held 11am Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with Steven Korpela to officiate. Burial will be held in the Liminga Cemetery later this spring.
Friends may call on Monday, April 15, 2019 from 4-7pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock and again on Tuesday from 10am until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, the family suggest memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, or the charity of ones choice in Mike’s memory.
