Michael H. Pyhtila, 55, a resident of South Range, passed away Friday January 10, 2020, at the Lighthouse of Hancock where he had been a patient since this past December following a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 8, 1964, in Waukegan, IL, a son of Glenn and Shirley (Kemila) Pyhtila. Mike was raised in Houghton and attended Houghton High School where he was a goalie for the High School Hockey tea and graduated with the class of 1982.
On April 13, 1985, he was united in marriage to the former Cynthia Houle. The couple resided locally while Mike worked for Copper Country Mental health. In 1993, the couple moved to make their home in Loveland, CO, in 1993. He then worked for Water Pic and the Colorado Department of Metal Health. In 2001, they moved to make their home in South Range. Mr. Pyhtila had worked locally for Walmart until his health forced an early retirement in 2018.
Mike enjoyed Hunting, Golfing and Hockey. He was an avid Detroit Lions and Toronto Maple Leaf fan.

A memorial service for Michael will be held 12 noon Tuesday January 14, 2020, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Brahm Semmler Smith
to officiate.
Friends may call on Tuesday January 14, 2020, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock from 10 am until time of services.
