Melvi N. Grosnick, 104, a resident of Traprock Valley, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021, at the Omega House in Houghton where she had been a resident patient.
Melvi was born on August 29, 1916, in Ripley, a daughter of the late John and Emma (Johnson) Kauppi. She was raised in Ripley, Woodspur, and Houghton. Melvi was a Graduate of the Houghton High School with the class of 1934.
On February 2, 1939, she was united in marriage to Ward L. Grosnick. The couple resided in Ripley until moving to Copper Harbor where they owned and operated the Isle Royal Queen I and II, providing daily passenger service from Copper Harbor to Isle Royal. In 1971, the couple retired to make their home in Traprock Valley. On July 14, 2002, Ward preceded her in death.
Preceding Melvi in death were her husband, her parents, and her sister Ann Marie Pihlaja.
