Obituary: Mary V. Treadeau

Baraga: Mary V. Treadeau, age 65, of Baraga, MI passed way Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse, MI with her loving family by her side.

Mary was born in L’Anse, MI on September 5, 1953 the daughter of the late John and Florence (Brown) Sterbenz. She grew up in Bovine and attended school in L’Anse. Mary loved spending time with and caring for her grandchildren, she loved cooking large quantities of food and sending it home with her children and grandchildren, everyone will miss Mary’s homemade macaroni and cheese and yum yum bars and the buckets of cookies! She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. Mary enjoyed sitting outside drinking coffee in the sunshine visiting with her friends and family. She liked to listen to old time country music, watching Frasier and Friends and making family phone calls. She enjoyed her visits and phone calls from Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly.

Mary is survived by her loving children, Joe (Jackie) Treadeau of Pequaming, Bobby (Kim) Treadeau of Baraga and Florence Treadeau of Baraga, grandchildren Derek (Mia) Treadeau, Ryan (Hillary) Treadeau and Ross Treadeau, Noah Treadeau, Chloe Treadeau, and Emma Treadeau and Sienna Stein and Juliet Stein, great grandchildren Kade Giddings and Kason Giddings, brothers John (Carol) Sterbenz of L’Anse, Bill (Brenda) Sterbenz of Baraga and Dan (Laurie) Sterbenz of L’Anse, sisters Nancy Usimaki of L’Anse and Betty Lou Nilson of L’Anse, many very special nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Jim Witz of Skanee and Sienna and Juliet’s father Jeremy Stein of L’Anse. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother Jimmy, brothers Bob Sterbenz and Gary (Sandy) Sterbenz, sister Sandra “Sandy” Witz and brothers-in-law Richard Usimaki and Brad Nilson.

A celebration of Mary’s life and a luncheon will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 2 p.m.

Mary will be laid to rest with her sister, Sandy Witz in the Skanee Cemetery.

The Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse has been entrusted with the celebration of life funeral arrangements.
