Mary Janelle Siller, 69, of Houghton died Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at GreenTree Nursing Home in Hubbell where she received loving care from the staff and her angel, Peggy.
Janelle was born in Wiesbaden, Germany on January 14, 1952 to James and Gloria Wade while her father was stationed in Germany with the US Air Force. She attended St. Ignatius Loyola School until the 8th grade and graduated from Houghton High School in June, 1970.
She married Edward Joseph Siller on April 28, 1975. Janelle was employed at the Department of Social Services from 1974 until her retirement in July, 2002. After her retirement she filled her days with creating handmade greeting cards, touching the lives of many people. She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton and was a member of the Altar Society.
Janelle is survived by her husband, Joseph, two daughters, Alicia (Siller) McEllis of Jackson, MI and Karen (Siller) Kinnunen of Hancock; four brothers, Jim (Donna) Wade and Don (Theresa) Wade of Houghton, Ron (Karen) Wade of Hancock, and Robert “Pete” (Masako) Wade of Misawa, Japan; 5 grandchildren; Joshua (Sienna) and Matthew (Ariel) Jaehnig and Garrett, Sarah, and Peyton McEllis; 2 great grandchildren; Hudson and Esme Jaehnig and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Walter and Kathryn Rickard, and her parents, Jim and Gloria Wade.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at St Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton with Rev. Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Spring inurnment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. There will be no visitation. A celebration of life reception will be held at the Range Lounge immediately following the mass.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly, or Omega House.
