Mary Ellen St. Andre, age 65 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 4, 1955 in L’Anse, MI daughter of Roland and Kathleen (Denomme) Huhtala. Mary graduated from L’Anse High School in 1973 and received a Bachelors degree from Northern Michigan University in 1977. She married Roger St. Andre September 5, 1998 in L’Anse. She worked at Baraga County Memorial Hospital as a social worker from 1977-2000, then she worked for Northern Orthotics from 2000-2015 when she retired.
Mary was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus church, Baraga County Snowmobile Club, and past President of UP Black Powder Association. She enjoyed bowling, doing cross stitch, shooting, and fishing.
Surviving are her husband Roger St. Andre of L’Anse; four stepsons, Michael (Diane) Radyke of Godletsville, KY, Scott (Michelle) St. Andre of Holly, MI, Dereck St. Andre of Detroit, MI, Kevin St. Andre of Beaver Island, MI; brother Roland Huhtala Jr of L’Anse; sisters, Barbara (Roger) Jahfetson of Baraga, Linda (Dale) Hutula of Watton; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Sept. 19th from 9-10 a.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery.
