UPDATE: A graveside service for Mary E. Burgan, 86, a resident of Hancock who passed away on February 13, 2023, at the Woodland Haven of Canal View — Houghton County will be held 2:30pm Friday, May 12, 2023, at the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
Mary E. Burgan, 86, a resident of Hancock passed away Monday, February 13, 2023, at the Woodland Haven of Canal View — Houghton County where she had been a resident patient.
She was born on August 23, 1936, in Hancock a daughter of the late John and Mamie (Jurvalain) Seppala. Mary was raised in Hancock and was a graduate of the Jeffers High School.
Mary then worked as a Telephone Operator for Michigan Bell before becoming a secretary. She then worked for UPPCO as a secretary and retired from Michigan Technological University as a secretary.
On August 13, 1966, she was untied in marriage to Roland Bruce Burgan. The couple resided in Hancock and on January 14, 2016, Bruce preceded Mary in death.
Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, her sisters: Betty Voldarski, Helene Kainulainen, & Kathy Seppala.
Surviving are:
Her sisters: Alice Kolka of Chassell
Margie (Robert) Andrews of Ripley
Sandra (George) Kilpela of Painesdale
Her brother-in-law: Reid Burgan of Bootjack
Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
A graveside service for Mary will be held later this year at the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
