Lake Linden: Martin Dennis, 86, of Lake Linden, passed away at the Green Tree of Hubbell on July 13, 2021.
He was born in Connorsville, IN on May 16, 1935, a son of Leo and Theo Dennis. He was a graduate of Connorsville High School. He enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at the Calumet Radar Base. While stationed in the Keweenaw, he met the love of his life, Carol Chadonais. They were married on June 23, 1957 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lake Linden. He worked at Pat’s IGA in Hancock and he owned and operated Dennis Greenhouse in Lake Linden until his retirement.
His wife Carol passed away on February 15, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his four-legged friend-Sunny.
Marty was a life-member of Post 90 American Legion of Lake linden and Saint Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed metal detecting and caring for flowers at the greenhouse. He helped establish the nature trail in Lake Linden and cared for the Lake Linden Village flowers for many years.
He is survived by: two children-Tony Dennis of San Diego, CA and Tammy (Donald Manninen) Wallar of Trimountain; 2 grandchildren-Jesse McMichael of Thomasboro, IL and Amanda (Charles) McMichael of Laurium; sister-Patricia Jeanne Willson and niece-Kay (Rick) Burt-Willson of Grosse Pointe, MI; nephew-Jeff Willson and great-niece-Melissa Willson of Waterford, MI.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 27 at Saint Joseph Church in Lake Linden with Father Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate. Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery with Military Rites. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
