As received from Memorial Chapel Funeral and Cremation Service:
Marliene S. Janovsky, 85, a resident of the Green Acres Road in Houghton, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at UP Health System – Marquette following injuries sustained from a fall at her home.
Marly was born on September 23, 1936, in Trimountain, the daughter of the late Alfred and Hilma (Laamanen) Paananen. She was raised in Trimountain and graduated from Jeffers High School with the class of 1954. Following school, Marly moved with friends to Milwaukee, WI and worked for Evinrude and later Briggs & Stratten. She met Donald Janovsky and the couple were united in marriage on May 16, 1959. Don preceded Marly in death on December 16, 2016.
Marly was not your typical 85-year-old. She kept herself busy by keeping her house and yard very tidy. She exercised every day to keep herself going. She loved baking and cooking, word games and the Wheel of Fortune. Over the years, she and Don shared the hard work of owning several businesses including Houghton Blacktop, Wausau Homes, Arctic Cat Dealership, and several Tech rentals. Even though she was a very classy lady, she was not afraid to get dirty. She was full of Sisu and even raced snowmobiles in her younger years. She was very kind and generous and she truly loved spending time with her family above all else. She and Don enjoyed many winters in Arizona near their daughter. Marly was a member of the Range Apostolic Lutheran Church in South Range.
Besides her husband and her parents, Marly was preceded in death by a brother Paul Paananen, and nephews, Jon Schuster and Earl Paananen.
Surviving are her children: Lori (Jay) Hannon of Chandler, AZ
Jay (Sherilyn) Janovsky of Iron Mountain, MI
Don Janovsky of Phelps, WI
Her grandchildren: Taylor, Bo, Abby, Jamie, Ashley, Julie, Randy, Alexandria, Elizabeth, Stephanie and Michael.
