Mark V. Korpela, 64, of Hancock passed away Friday March 6, 2020, at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was born on March 16, 1955, in Hancock, MI, a son of the late VanCorl and Bertha (Franti) Korpela. Mark was raised in Liminga and attended the Redridge School before graduating from the Houghton High School with the class of 1973.
On March 6, 1976, he was united in marriage to Thelma Granger. The couple resided in North East, MD until moving to make their home in Hancock in 1979. In 1987, they moved to their home on the Hancock Canal and since 2014 have lived on Quincy Hill.
Mark was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock. Mark had owned and operated several businesses in the area such as Fine Line Tire, Furniture World and World of Wood. Family was everything to Mark; he was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and had friends of all ages across the country.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his father & mother-in-law, his brother Rolly Wuebben and his brother-in-law Robin Granger.

Funeral services for Mark will be held 11 am Monday March 9, 2020, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock with Ron Jouppe to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday March 8, 2020, from 6 to 8:00 pm at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock and on Monday from 10 am until time of services at the church.
