Mark Heikkinen, age 61, of Calumet passed away on June 5, 2018 at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital.
Mark was born to Charles and Althea (Rowe) Heikkinen on June 28, 1956 in Laurium. He attended Calumet High School graduating with the class of 1975. He worked as an exploratory driller for American Copper and Nickel for a number of years before working for Vollwerth’s Meats for a decade.
Mark absolutely loved to go berry picking and would spend a lot of his summers doing so. He also had a passion for Lake Superior where he enjoyed swimming and in summer or winter get lake water for his families’ baptisms. He also enjoyed gardening where he would plant many flowers and vegetables. Most of all he loved being a grandfather.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his son Casey.

Daughter-in-law: Jonesta Kimble
3 Step-children: Kirk, Jamie, and Rickey
3 Grandchildren: Eli, Lillian, and Laylah
Brother: Chris (Jackie) Heikkinen
Sister: Cheri (Dennis) Raasio
And numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the Calumet United Methodist Church at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 9, 2018 with Rev. Jayme Palaszeski to officiate.
Visitation will take place at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet.
