Marie L. (Midge) Blakeman of Hancock, MI, passed away Tuesday December 31, 2024, at Mission Point of Hancock where she had been a resident patient for over the past year.
Marie was born in Hancock, MI, on November 13, 1937, to Edward and Eleanore (Schaaf) O’Connor and was a graduate of the Hancock High School.
With the exception of twelve years, her entire life was spent in the Copper Country.
On October 23, 1981, she was united in marriage to Dallas Blakeman.
She was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.
Mrs. Blakeman had worked as a Nurse’s Aide for many years and always was willing to help anyone in need throughout her entire life. She enjoyed time with her family & friends, knitting, and playing domino’s or working on puzzles.
Surviving are: her children: Judy Niemi of Chassell, Jeanne (Bryan) Riutta of Liminga, Jerry (Kathy) Puuri of Atlantic Mine, Kris Wales of Madison, WI and Sam (Ami) Puuri of Sheridan, WY. Her step-daughter: Denise (Scott) Gillenwater of Sheridan, WY; Her daughters-in-law: Kim Puuri and Shelly Puuri; her grandchildren and her great grandchildren; her sister: Nancy (Jerry) Craven of Simpsonville, SC; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Dallas Blakeman; her sons: Michael, Dennis & Timothy; Her son -in-law: Dale Niemi; her stepdaughters: Debra Cole & Tonya Maronick; her sister Patricia Johnson and her brother Edward O’Connor
A Graveside funeral for Marie will be held later this spring in the Liminga Cemetery.
