Obituary: Marie Elmblad

Marie A. Elmblad, age 95 of L’Anse, MI passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, L’Anse. She was born in Houghton, MI on April 18, 1926 the daughter of the late Dono and Alice (Langevin) Treadeau. Marie attended school in Houghton and L’Anse. She married Theodore Elmblad at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse on April 5, 1945. He preceded her in death in 2007. Marie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed saying the Rosary, sewing, traveling, crocheting, cooking, taking care of children and making baptism and wedding gowns.

Marie is survived by her loving children, David Elmblad of Grand Rapids, Kyle (Barbara) Elmblad of Portage, MI, Priscilla Friend of North Dakota and Mary Elmblad of Grand Rapids, 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and brother Delbert Treadeau of Texas. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, children Ted, Melody, Dan and Patricia, grandsons Aaron and Steven, sisters Myrtice, Alice and Nelda, brothers Dono, Jr and Douglas and nieces Nelda and Kitty.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m, Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, L’Anse with Father Corey Litzner, celebrant. Immediately following Mass, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a luncheon in the church hall. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Wyoming, MI.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Marie’s honor to be directed to Shriner’s Children Hospital. Envelopes will be available at church.
