Marian Tallman, 89, a former resident of the Bluff’s Senior Living Community in Houghton passed away Monday, February 15, 2021, at Portage Pointe in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past 5½ years.
She was born on September 27, 1931, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late Everett and Anna (Niemala) Nippa. Marian was raised in the Detroit area and was a graduate of Cooley High School with the class of 1949. Marian was united in marriage to Donald Tallman and the couple resided in Detroit and Ontonagon. The couple decided to part ways and remain friends.
Locally, Marian had worked as a Secretary for St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton and First Lutheran Church in Dollar Bay before her retirement. Ms. Tallman was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock and enjoyed golfing in her free time.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her son Roy Tallman and her longtime very special companion, Clyde “Larry” Lawrence.
Surviving are:
Her grandchildren: Dylan Tallman, Crystal Tallman and Jerry Myhren
Her great-grandchildren: Hailey & Tianna Tallman and Sophie Gonyea
Nieces, nephews and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11, Monday, June 7, 2021, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock with Rev. Brahm Semmler- Smith to officiate. Marian will be interred at the Columbarium located at Gloria Dei.
